Introduction to our research institute
Greetings,
I am Masafumi Nakanishi, Director of the Bird's Nest Research Institute.
For the past nine and a half years, I have dedicated my passion and curiosity to the study of edible swiftlet nests. My journey began at a small company in rural Japan, and over the years, I have accumulated extensive knowledge and expertise in this field. Today, I am proud to say that I am one of the leading experts on edible bird's nests in Japan.
The turning point in my career came with a serendipitous encounter with Mr. Thomas, a prominent figure in a Chinese business conglomerate on Kalimantan Island, Indonesia. Through this extraordinary meeting, I gained deep insights into the cohesion and network of the overseas Chinese community in Southeast Asia and the source of their strength. This experience has been profoundly influential in shaping my professional journey.
Exploring Kalimantan Island and becoming the first Japanese individual to visit the secretive and meticulously managed swiftlet nesting sites was one of the most exhilarating adventures of my life. I navigated through three layers of steel doors, twelve keys, and a four-meter pit trap to witness the intricate techniques of the skilled workers who harvest these precious nests. This experience deepened my appreciation for the value and rarity of bird's nests.
The research process was fraught with challenges. I successfully navigated the stringent standards set by the Ministry of Health, Labour, and Welfare's Quarantine Station and overcame the complexities of component analysis. Despite these hurdles, my persistent efforts bore fruit, culminating in the successful direct importation of bird's nests from their origin.
As the Director of the Bird's Nest Research Institute, I am committed to continuing the research and development of high-quality bird's nests. Our institute strives to provide accurate information about the remarkable potential and benefits of bird's nests, ensuring that their true value is effectively communicated to the public.

ご挨拶
ツバメの巣研究所所長の中西政文です。
この9年半の間、私は食用ツバメの巣の研究に情熱と好奇心を注いできました。私の歩みは日本の片田舎にある小さな会社から始まり、長い年月をかけてこの分野における幅広い知識とノウハウを蓄積してきました。現在、私は食用ツバメの巣に関して日本で最も詳しいと自負しています。
転機となったのは、インドネシア・カリマンタン島の華僑系財閥の重鎮、トーマス氏との偶然の出会いでした。この特別な機会を通して、私は東南アジアの華僑コミュニティの結束力とネットワーク、そしてその強さの源泉について深い洞察を得ることができました。この経験は、私のツバメの巣の専門家としての歩みを形成する上で大きな影響を与えました。
カリマンタン島を探索し、日本人として初めて、秘密裏に綿密に管理されたツバメの営巣地を訪れたことは、私の人生で最も刺激的な冒険のひとつでした。私は3層の鉄扉、12本の鍵、4メートルの落とし穴をくぐり抜け、この貴重な巣を採取する熟練労働者の技術を目の当たりにしました。この経験によって、私はツバメの巣の価値と希少性への理解を深めることができました。
日本の多くの人々がアナツバメの巣について話には聞いたことがあるものの、見たことも食べたこともないという状況です。また、巣の存在は知っていても、その情報は作り話や先入観に基づいており、正しい情報が全く伝わっていないことに愕然としました。専門紙である「健康産業新聞」の記者も同様の状況でした。そこで、正しい情報を発信する必要性を痛感し、本研究所を立ち上げた次第です。
調査の過程は困難の連続でした。厚生労働省検疫所の厳しい基準を何とかクリアし、複雑な成分分析をも乗り越えました。こうした困難を経て、地道な努力が実を結び、ツバメの巣の原産地からの直接輸入に成功しました。
私はツバメの巣研究所の所長として、高い品質のツバメの巣の研究開発を続けていくことに努力します。当研究所は、ツバメの巣の驚くべき可能性と恩恵について正確な情報を提供し、その真の価値を皆様に分かりやすく伝えることに努めています。
ツバメの巣研究所では、これらの自然の驚異がもたらす変革の可能性を信じています。私たちは、皆様の健康と幸福を高めることができる新しい洞察と革新を発見するために努力を続けていきます。私たちの使命は、伝統的な知識と現代科学のギャップを埋め、ツバメの巣の素晴らしい魅力を世の中に届け貢献することです。
